On July 28th, the residents of Oceanside Landing Mobile Home park made history by launching the first tenant union in Murrells Inlet. They boldly demanded that their corporate landlord, Cobblestone Real Estate, meet with their union to negotiate a fair lease and a cap on the excessive rent increases they have experienced over the past few months.
Oceanside Landing is a 55+ community where the majority of residents are living on fixed incomes. However when Cobblestone Real Estate bought their community, moved everyone to month-to-month leases, and began massive lot rent increases, it forced many to go back to work at 80 or even 90 years old just to pay the rent. That ain't right!
This is Cobblestone Real Estate's business model: target 55+ communities, buy them up, increase lot rents, and minimize maintenance. From Arizona to Florida to New Hampshire, they have done the same thing to thousands of seniors. Shame!
The tenants of Oceanside Landing have decided they are fighting back to demand what they deserve. Stand with Oceanside Landing Tenant Union by emailing their landlord to say: negotiate with the tenant union!
When you click "Submit", you will send an email directly to Jason Hagen, Eric Hagen, and Tome Tomaj -- the three founders and managers of Cobblestone Real Estate -- telling them to meet with the Oceanside Landing Tenant Union and negotiate on their demands.
