Become a member of South Carolina Tenant Union

We are a grassroots member-run organization made up of working class tenants with a focus on disproportionately Black working class tenants in a state with one of the highest eviction rates in the country. If the rent is the problem, then organized tenants are the solution. We organize building-level and regional tenant unions to fight for what we all need and deserve – safe, sustainable, permanently affordable housing.
We know that the only people who will stand up for tenants are the tenants themselves. That’s why we are led by our members and why we need YOU to join us. We believe that we will win – become a member today.

What Does Membership Look Like?
-
Participation: Members show up, speak out, and take action. Whether it’s attending meetings, knocking on doors, or leading campaigns, every member’s contribution matters.
-
Solidarity: Membership means standing with other tenants in their struggles and knowing they’ll stand with you in yours. It’s about building a network of mutual support that landlords can’t break.
-
Imagination: As a member, you’re part of envisioning and building what comes next. From tenant-owned housing to community land trusts, members are shaping the future of housing.
