Did you know that South Carolina has one of the highest eviction rates in the entire country — with families evicted every six minutes? The Eviction Record Sealing Bill H. 4270 would allow eviction records to be sealed after a set period, giving families a fair chance to rebuild without being permanently blocked from stable housing.

Join the Tri-County Tenant Union and Motherland Essentials for a powerful community event where creativity meets action. We’re gathering to write postcards to our legislators, urging them to hold a subcommittee hearing for the Eviction Record Sealing Bill (H.4270). This bipartisan, family-centered bill gives South Carolinians a chance to rebuild after eviction, rather than being punished for life.

This is not just a craft day— it’s a people-powered action space. Come through, connect with other tenants, have some small bites and bevs, and take part in the movement to make housing justice a reality across our state.

After you write your postcard, enjoy pay-what-you-can crafts during Motherland Essentials’ Open Studio Hours. Because in our movement, joy, healing, and action belong together. Proceeds go towards their Me By We Project to provide grocery store gift cards to those in need during the holiday season.
